چکیده

Carswell, F., Kerr, M. M., and Dunsmore, I. R. (1972). Archives of Disease in Childhood, 47, 021. Sequential trial of effect of phenobarbitone on serum bilirubin of preterm infants. (1) Phenobarbitone in a dose of 8 mg/kg per day was given in twice-daily intramuscular doses to preterm infants with a gestational age of 36 completed weeks or less. The phenobarbitone was started within the first 24 hours after birth. (2) The peak serum bilirubin levels of these infants and matched, randomly selected, control infants were compared sequentially. A significantly lower (P <0 * 05) peak bilirubin level was found in the treated group. (3) This lower level of serum bilirubin may be less liable to produce neurological damage in preterm infants.

Transcutaneous bilirubinometry: an evaluation.

The transcutaneous bilirubinometer was evaluated in 60 term and 10 preterm infants. A significant correlation was found between the transcutaneous index and the total serum bilirubin concentration for both term and preterm infants. The reliability of the transcutaneous bilirubinometer as a screening method was confirmed, and index criteria for serum bilirubin analysis have been suggested for te...

بررسی میزان آلبومین سرم نوزادان رسیده در بیمارستان اکبرآبادی

Jaundice is one of the most complications in the Neonatal period. It is observed during the first week of life in approximately 60% of term infants and 80% of preterm infants. Kernicterus is the serious complication of the jaundice in infants, that is constitute of extrapyramidal disturbances, auditory abnormalities and gaze palsies. Serum albumin for bounding to bilirubin is important.   Sta...

Bucolome in prevention of hyperbilirubinaemia in preterm infants.

Fifty preterm babies were randomly assigned to a group given oral bucolome (30 mg/kg per day for 5 days) and a control group. Serum bilirubin levels of the treated infants from day 4 onwards were consistently lower than those of the control infants. 3 of the 25 control infants (but none of the 25 treated infants) had bilirubin levels greater than 18 mg/100 ml (308 mumol/l) and required exchange...

The Effects of Field Massage Technique on Bilirubin Level and the Number of Defecations in Preterm Infants

Background: Hyperbilirubinemia is a common physiological problem in approximately 80% of preterm infants during the first week after birth. Increase in bowel movements reduces enterohepatic circulation and increases bilirubin excretion. Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of Field massage technique on bilirubin level and the number of defecations in preterm infants Method: This clinic...

Comparison of a new transcutaneous bilirubinometer (Bilimed®) with serum bilirubin measurements in preterm and full-term infants

BACKGROUND The gold standard to assess hyperbilirubinemia in neonates remains the serum bilirubin measurement. Unfortunately, this is invasive, painful, and costly. Bilimed, a new transcutaneous bilirubinometer, suggests more accuracy compared to the existing non-invasive bilirubinometers because of its new technology. It furthermore takes into account different skin colours. No contact with th...
